The majestic moment a Kingfisher erupts from the water, an ethereal flash of colour, light refracting as he soares toward the heavens.
After experiencing Gerard Manley Hopkins' 'The Caged Skylark', I became transfixed by the rich mythology and symbolism surrounding birds, particularly the Kingfisher. I began to explore human spirituality and the mortal condition through earthly experiences of the metaphysical, abstracting those moments that we glimpse a possibility of the immaterial through natural phenomena - such as the flight of the Kingfisher.
